CrownKeepers is acting as fiscal sponsor for The Garfield PGH – to support the physical transformation of a multi-family home built in 1915 in Pittsburgh’s historic Hill District. Created with visiting Black artists and arts workers in mind, a welcoming, comfortable and luxurious space will ultimately be a long term solution to Pittsburgh’s short-term housing needs for Black creatives visiting Pittsburgh.
The Allignment Chapter was created to provide same day emergency support to low income mothers in need, including personal hygiene products, household cleaning items, daily living essentials, and baby diapers and formula. Their mission is to decrease mental illness and child neglect in low income communities. They provide a free financially fit literacy program that enhances the credit education, home buying, savings, and resume building for all mothers that enter the program. This helps bridge the gap between low income and middle class mothers.
CDCP and Hatch Arts Collective (fiscally sponsored by Dreams of Hope) will host a spectacle performance with Little Amal, an international art project. Amal is a 12-foot puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee child who has become a global symbol of human rights, especially those of refugees. CDCP + Hatch are creating one of four local events to host Little Amal while in Pittsburgh this fall. This particular event will be located in Wilkinsburg.
Off the Wall Productions is acting as fiscal sponsor, to support a workshop of “In Our Time: Pandemic Stories from the Frontlines” a new play by Hiawatha Project, inspired by interviews with women ICU doctors on the frontlines of COVID, and Hemingway’s novel, In Our Time. Hiawatha Project creates original performances by interrogating social justice questions through myth, free association, and movement.
Trans YOUniting is a growing Black-led organization founded and run by Dena Stanley, a Trans woman. Trans YOUniting serves as a resource for the LGBTQIA+ community in Allegheny County, providing services that promote financial independence, workplace readiness, housing stability, sexual safety, health, and wellness. In 2022, Trans YOUniting partnered with Proud Haven to open a community service that serves as a resource center and safety net for the local LGBTQIA+ community.
The Radical Youth Collective, fiscally sponsored by POISE Foundation, is a fellowship and nurturing environment for young Black people to learn about Black radical tradition and how to organize. Their goal is to strengthen the unity of Black youth organizing in the Greater Pittsburgh area.
Team G.R.O.W. supports low income women/home owners of the Uptown/Hill District neighborhoods through workshops that provide the skills necessary to be able to make small repairs and maintenance upkeep in their homes.
