$5,000 to support programs, projects & activities that 1) assist those living in the Garfield, Bloomfield, & Friendship neighborhoods facing challenging circumstances & 2) capitalize on opportunities to improve the physical & economic environment of the larger community. Since 1975, the BGC has sought a better future for all who call our community “home”.
The Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation (BGC) exists to improve the quality of life for all in Garfield and surrounding neighborhoods through active community engagement. Community-based and board-driven, one of the BGC’s main goals is to get as many people in the community as possible to participate in the efforts aimed at physical revitalization, an improved economy and strengthened social well-being.

$5,000 to support the Bach Choir’s 85th season, Dreams and Nightmares, which will explore musical settings of literary works. Their third concert – Mary Shelley: Frankenstein Re-imagined – will premiere a newly-commissioned work by local composer Ben Opie in a jazz, funk, hip-hop style. The Bach Choir will perform the work as sound-track to the 1931 Frankenstein film.
The Bach Choir of Pittsburgh is dedicated to inspiring the highest levels of artistic excellence among its members and to building enthusiasm for choral performance in audiences across the Southwestern Pennsylvania region. We do this through:

• Our annual season of concerts presented in a variety of interesting and historic settings
• Communication with our loyal audiences and outreach to new audiences

Autism Urban Connection‘s mission is to provide education, support, advocacy and empowerment with an emphasis on self-care to parent/caregivers of those diagnosed with Autism, with priority placed on the African American, minority and economically disadvantaged members of the community.
The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council builds a more resourced, connected, and informed arts sector, empowering artists and arts organizations throughout Southwestern PA.
By sharing resources, fostering significant relationships, leading advocacy initiatives, and increasing public awareness of arts and culture, the Arts Council cultivates a thriving, vibrant arts community for the Greater Pittsburgh region.
Squonk Opera‘s mission is to:
- Inspire diverse audiences to explore their creativity and common humanity.
- Invigorate live performance and develop young and non-traditional audiences with music, multimedia spectacle and humor.
- Embrace the unique culture of our home in Western Pennsylvania, and the world.

The mission of New Voices for Reproductive Justice is to build a social change movement dedicated to the health and well-being of Black women and girls through leadership development, Human Rights and Reproductive Justice. Their vision is to achieve the complete health and well-being of Black women and girls, their families and communities.
Alumni Theater Company is a driven ensemble that creates bold theatrical work that gives fresh voice to the experience of young urban artists and highlights their rich contribution to our community. ATC’s work validates the perspective of urban youth to both its members and its audience, building an increasingly growing and diverse community of support for both the performers and their ideas.
$10,000 to Resources for Human Development to support Put People First! PA’s Nonviolent Medicaid Army program in Southwestern Pennsylvania, a base-building and leadership development initiative to help grow PPF’s existing local Healthcare Rights Committees and establish new ones, and to develop the leadership of volunteer members.
Put People First! PA gives voice to everyday people who are struggling to meet basic needs — things like education, housing, health care, jobs at living wages, food, and a healthy environment.
Alia Musica Pittsburgh is the fiscal sponsor for Afro Yaqui Music Collective, a postcolonial big band committed to a decolonized music and theater practice. The emphasis on jazz, under-recognized as having a vibrant cultural life on the Mexico-U.S. border, aligns with the collective’s goals of using music as a bridge between communities in the service of dismantling apartheid. $15,000 to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation to support a one-year pilot of Trans Buddy PGH – Peer Healthcare Support, a transgender-focused, community-advised peer navigation and patient advocacy program to improve access to healthcare and achieve better health outcomes for transgender patients.
