Today, BHA activates 14,000 sq. ft in the historic Duquesne Brew House. All that BHA does, programming, operations, and governance start and revolve around the organization’s core values of connection, representation, mentorship, livability, and practice.

Braddock Carnegie Library in Braddock, Pennsylvania, is a National Historic Landmark that opened in 1889 as the first public library built by Andrew Carnegie in the United States. For over 135 years, the BCLA has served as an anchor to an evolving community. The BCLA opened the Art Lending Library in 2013 as a result of its participation in the Carnegie International. This collection is a unique opportunity for community members to borrow art, including life-sized puppets, to take into their homes or offices for a few weeks. The BCLA also offers a robust arts program including a Fab Lab, Ceramics Studio, and Printshop. BCLA’s programs and services make it a vital piece of social infrastructure. The BCLA is an essential safe place of self-determination, community imagination, life-long learning, and development that honors the knowledge, cultures, needs, desires, histories, and lived experiences of our neighbors.

The Pillow Project was founded in 2004 by Artistic Director Pearlann Porter. The Pillow Projects have been all about creating and investigating new ideas in a postjazz improvisation and challenging how dance and performance is experienced. Rooted in Pittsburgh at The Space Upstairs, Projects have launched from the Pillow in Paris, London, Dublin, Amsterdam and New York City.

Intersection*ology explores where gender, power, and technology converge to grapple with the disparate ways in which women are displaced, abandoned, and rendered invisible using live performance and audience interactivity through light, sound, image, and personal movement to situate memories of the feminine past and corporeality in the natural world into new, technologically mediated locations and spaces.

Founded in 2003 by theater artist Patrick Jordan, barebones has garnered a reputation for producing high-quality, risk-taking plays.

Dreams for Hope for Hatch Arts Collective

Dreams for Hope is acting as fiscal sponsor for Hatch Arts Collective, a Pittsburgh-based performance incubator that develops new, interdisciplinary, and queer- or BIPOC-led performance projects. Over the last decade, Hatch has presented 11 productions, hired 100+ artists, and engaged 4,000+ audience members. Hatch collaborates with institutions like Quantum Theatre, Drift, Artist Image Resource, and others to present socially urgent and formally experimental performances. Hatch has produced plays about a queer couple raising four chickens in their backyard and the impacts of Western PA’s addiction to fracking. Often, Hatch productions take place in intimate and unusual venues: a screenprinting studio, a temporary stage built on a river, and an abandoned mall transformed into a crime scene.
