The New Israel Fund was founded 40 years ago to actualize the vision of Israel’s founders—of a Jewish and democratic state that, in the words of the Declaration of Independence, “ensures complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race, or sex.” Through their founding, funding, and advocacy of more than 900 organizations that constitute Israel’s progressive civil society, they have become the leading organization advancing democracy and equality in Israel. NIF and its partners work to safeguard democracy, human rights, social/economic justice, religious freedom, shared society, and equality for all of Israel’s citizens.
