Founded in 1987, Shepherd Wellness Community is the only AIDS community center in western Pennsylvania and the only AIDS community serving the 11-county region of southwestern Pennsylvania. The hallmark of Shepherd Wellness Community (SWC) is their Wellness Dinners for people living
with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones. The dinners, which are coupled with either a wellness program
or HIV/AIDS Support Group, allows members to connect with each other and learn about other
service organizations, medical providers and social services. SWC also provides transportation
assistance to the dinners/programs, outreach calls, and respite outings.
