ACTION-Housing, Inc.
$25,000 to ACTION-Housing to support their MyPlace Program, which provides housing and intensive case management services to young people who have aged out of the foster care system in Allegheny County and are either homeless or at risk homelessness. These young adults stay in the program for up to 24 months in a 1-bedroom apartment in the Pittsburgh area. The youth are linked to education and employment opportunities and a comprehensive life skills development. They are also linked to a vast array of services that already exist in the community. The goal is to enable the participants to ultimately live independent, self-sufficient lives.
Specifically, this grant will support a component of the MyPlace Program that helps young adults aged 18-24 transition to self-sufficiency by providing supportive services that are not offered by other funding sources, such as food, furnishings, dishes, pots/pans, housekeeping supplies, and transportation costs.
ACTION-Housing empowers people to build secure, self-sufficient lives through decent, affordable housing, essential supportive services, asset-building programs, and educational & employment opportunities. ACTION-Housing has been providing quality affordable housing and related services to Western Pennsylvania since 1957.
